Transitioning To Natural Hair Q&A

The Black Hair Care Revolution - A Simple Pocket Guide to Growing & Maintaining Healthy Natural & Permed Hair
"Hey,
My name is christi, I viewed one of your video blogs on youtube and was interested in getting some advice on the whole transistioning process. I've had relaxers since I was a child so I really dont remember what my natural looks or feels like, which is causing some aprehension in my decision to go natural. I've been doing alot of research on how to go through the process, but im still nervous because I just dont know what my natural hair is going to be like. Any advice?
Thanks!
Christi"

Straightening Curly Hair

There's no mystery involved when it comes to straightening curly hair. Black hair does not need to be chemically straighten in order to achieve a relaxed look. I will share a few tips to help you get started. At the end of this post, is a list of the tools and products that I personally use.

Always begin with clean hair. Cleanse your curly hair with a sulfate free shampoo. Follow that up with a moisturizing conditioner or deep penetrating treatment. Towel blot hair, then separate into four sections. Apply leave-in-conditioner and heat protectant to each section, then detangle. Dry each section with a handheld hair dryer and round brush.

Without applying anymore product ( the key to getting bouncy and light hair) begin to flatiron using a ceramic model flat plate. This will aid in smoothness, shine, and retaining moisture

When finished, add a shine or smoothing serum. A light oil may be used. You hair will be shiny bouncey and soft!
